Best AI tools for job seekers
Updated 26 August 2026
Most candidates need three things: a CV that survives the ATS, a way to tell which roles are worth applying to, and interview practice. Almost no tool does all three well, so here is what each of the main options is actually best at — and where Alphie fits.
| Tool | Best at | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Alphie Recruiter | Scoring your CV against a specific job description, tailoring it without inventing experience, prep briefs, and a real voice mock interview with a report | Does not host job listings — you bring the job description |
| Teal | CV builder plus application tracker in one place | Most value sits behind the paid tier |
| Careerflow | LinkedIn profile optimisation and application CRM | Overlaps heavily with Teal — pick one |
| Rezi | Fast ATS-friendly CV drafting from scratch | Output can read generic without editing |
| Kickresume | Templated CVs and cover letters | Some templates are not ATS-safe (columns, icons) |
| Jobright | Discovering roles that match your profile | Match quality varies by market |
| Huru | Repetitive interview question drills | Feedback is on delivery more than substance |
| Google Interview Warmup | Free, no-account basic practice | Generic questions, no role context |
Step 1 — make the CV ATS-safe
Applicant tracking systems parse text. Multi-column layouts, photos, icons, text in headers and footers, and tables are the usual reasons a good CV scores badly. Any tool you use should produce a single-column, text-first document. Alphie's tailoring is ATS-compliant by design and will not add experience you do not have.
Step 2 — apply with intent, not volume
Mass applying is the most expensive way to job hunt. A fit score against the actual job description — with the gaps named — tells you in a minute whether a role is worth an hour. That is what Alphie's Rate My Fit does: a score, the strengths, the gaps, and a tailored version of your CV for that specific role.
Step 3 — prepare for the specific interview
Generic question drills only take you so far. Alphie's Prepare with Alphie produces a brief for the role you are actually interviewing for — likely questions, company context, what to emphasise — and Alphie's Mock Interview is a live voice interview run like a senior recruiter would, followed by a report on each answer, your strengths, your gaps and the likelihood of hearing back.
